Slide and drop.

I’m a child who was raised on Schoolhouse Rock. You know, “Conjunction junction.. what’s your function?” [my shit lol]. I would say it’s pretty old school and as much as I might feel it’s timeless, I don’t know exactly how much of a liking this generation has for it.

Well, in comes The Electric Company. I don’t know what possessed me to turn to NJN early on a Saturday morning, but I did. What I stumbled upon was HILARIOUS. The Electric Company was on and at first I thought it was Ghostwriter, which is the main reason I didn’t change the channel. Apparently, it’s a revival of a 1970′s PBS educational show geared towards elementary-aged kids to get them to enjoy reading.

HOTFLet’s flashback..

One night a few months ago, I was conversing with a friend of mine about helping him set up a blog. Curious as to what it was for, he began to explain to me that he and another friend of ours grew tired of this surplus of clothing lines. It seemed as if everyone became a designer all of a sudden only to have their lines disappear after a few years.

All those designers did was follow trends. They didn’t want that. If they created a line, they wanted it to be something lasting.. timeless.

With that said..

Meet Jason Akoi & Tobi Babajide, the founding fathers of Herds of the Fathers. From leather goods and scarves, to watches and bracelets, these two Jersey natives turned their keen fashion senses and disdain for following trends into an accessory line for today’s man.

I fell in love with the concept behind the name of their company. Tobi, Jason, their colleagues and their customers.. every one of them is a “father” in their own right. They have each birthed their own style and is simply using this line to enhance what they’ve created.

“Here at Herds of the Fathers, we are part of a herd but we will refuse to flock to the tune of the fashion industry.”

Here’s a preview of what you can look forward to from them in Fall after the jump. (more…)
